Sun, Moon, and Stars - Part 3 - For the stars of the triptych I decided to make a long-exposure take of the southern cross. The chance came when our group was camping on the banks of the Zambezi on the night of the 17th of June 2001. I simply put the camera to the grassy ground, locked the shutter with a rubber band and left it lying there for two hours, desperately hoping that the hippos which could be heard in the distance would not come near and tread it underfoot. They did not, and neither did anyone else and not even the wind had blown anything in front of the lens. So I got a good result and my old Polaroid would still be a good exhibit in a museum.
