This book contains a selection from all my analogue photographs taken between 1973 and 2008. Most of them do not appear in this webspace, but they delivered the material for all the composites displayed here. The book's title DAS QUADRAT DER DISTANZ refers to the description of the inverse-square law, though in a rather metaphysical way, not only as a paraphrase for the distance between my camera and the object it is focussed on, but also for the ever growing distance between the past moment of taking the picture and the repetitious moment of recapturing this first moment by looking at the picture in the present.
